At the Kunst und Meer ° Gallery, we are pleased to present works by contemporary artists who explore themes related to the sea.
We ourselves, Peter Hauptmann & Karin Schäfer, love the sea and, above all, traveling. That is why we decided not to open our gallery in one fixed, permanent location, but rather to let it "travel" as well: it is intended to be a gallery without a fixed abode, moving through the world with us!
In doing so, we start from places we already know or those we wish to get to know and have always wanted to visit. On-site, we will look for partners who want to implement and carry this vision forward with us: local artists, galleries that are "open" (in the literal sense) to our idea, and of course many other interested people and institutions who share our love for art and the sea.
In regular exhibitions at various selected locations, we will therefore show the works of the artists represented in the Kunst und Meer catalog. A suitable and harmonious ambiance will be created for each exhibition. An overall experience, just as we would wish for ourselves and would like to enable for others: for the participating artists as well as for interested visitors.
Since we live in Vienna ourselves, the first of these exhibitions will naturally take place in Vienna as the starting point for everything that is to follow, specifically in February 2027. Immediately afterward, we have planned a trip to Sicily and are therefore currently looking for a suitable venue.
Local partners can be galleries, art associations, art projects, artist collectives, etc. If you have an idea, please feel free to write to us!
By the way, this does not only apply to Sicily: we are open to all suggestions and all locations, wherever they may be.
